A. If you own an Aprilaire Humidifier the answer is a very simple “Yes.” The humidifier will not have an adverse affect on the air cleaner since the humidity being created is vapor. Vacuum cleaners stir up a considerable amount of dust and running the system fan during this time will enable the Aprilaire Air Cleaner to remove more dust.

A. HEPA filters are very efficient at removing extremely small particles from small volumes of air. However, HEPA filters restrict airflow in addition to pollutants, so these systems can not be used to filter all of the air going through a residential furnace. Many air cleaners are sold as “HEPA-type." These use the same technology as true HEPA air cleaners, but do not deliver the same performance as true HEPA air cleaners. A true HEPA air cleaner will remove at least 99.97% of the particles that are 0.3 microns in size. The Aprilaire Model 5000 will remove 94% of the particles that are 0.3 microns in size when new.
